POWER: Part Three

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.” Romans 1:16-17 NLT When we think of the Gospel or Good News of Christ, it is to be something we must try to understand to the point that we receive the power for which it was designed to give us. Through Jesus Christ, we are offered God's power to work within us to overcome anything. We do this by faith and not in our own might. Scripture declares to us that we can do all things through Christ and this is a truth of God's Word every believer can tap into. The death of Jesus on the Cross resulted in everlasting life for all who believe. God's Spirit indwells His children and this is a source of power given only by God. Some may scoff at the Word of God, especially those who do not believe it. Yet, God raised His Son from the dead and He is the first fruit of all who will dwell in His Kingdom as they follow Him. We know death. Pretty much everyone alive has seen death in some form. But how many of us have seen the dead rise to life? God has promised that we will share in the resurrection of Jesus and just as He raised His Son, He will raise up to eternal life all who will believe. Following Christ is a guarantee of the power that can exist within us through the Holy Spirit as He helps us to live now to make forever with God a blessed assurance. The power is in believing in God's power. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18 NKJV
