We serve God whether people honor us or despise us, whether they slander us or praise us. We are honest, but they call us impostors. We are ignored, even though we are well known. We live close to death, but we are still alive. We have been beaten, but we have not been killed. Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.
2 Corinthians 6:8-10 NLT
There is freedom in Christ. Even as Believers endure trying circumstances, faith in our Lord keeps us from being destroyed by these things. It is liberating to know that even when it seems the world is falling apart around us, we serve the God who created the world and holds our lives together. It hurts to be broken but sometimes the Potter allows this for the simple purpose of restoration. God is perfect and our imperfection is His workmanship. This may be difficult for some to comprehend, but we'll one day see clearly what all the fuss was about. Perhaps we'll be too busy weeping tears of joy to remember the tears of pain we cried when Jesus returns to establish our place in His Kingdom. But let us be thankful that we have the sense to cry all those tears to Him and live in our freedom now. Just believing in our God who cares for us keeps us free from trying to figure out why life in this world can be so difficult. God is in control. He will finish what He started. As we follow Jesus, we're just passing through. Take heart—He has already overcome the world! (John 16:33)
